Mason-Dixon linen towel....UNBLOCKED
P1010243.JPG

I knit a linen hand towel from the Mason-Dixon knitting book. I changed the stitch pattern to one I could easily memorize, so this one is a little different from the one in the book. The whole time I was knitting these crunchy, tilted stitches, I wondered if they really would soften and relax in the wash. The good news? They really really did. The bad news? I gave it away before I took a picture. Oh well, I'm knitting another one, and this time I will document the transformation!

We Rallied!
We took it easy Saturday, and rested up, and then we took a leisurely drive to Maryland for Sheep and Wool! Since it was Sunday, the crowds were much smaller, and we enjoyed the slower pace. I'm glad we made it! The shearer from New Zealand was back for the first time since 2002 and Lydia enjoyed the demonstration. She wanted to "see the sheepies again, Mama!" I hope she enjoys the festival for a few more years. I'll be sad when she's too cool to come along. A few more projects have joined the queue...

Missing Sheep & Wool
When I was 10, I was sick on Christmas. I struggled to put on a happy face, even though Santa brought me the stereo with record player and cassette, even more than I had hoped for! It's terrible to be sick for a once-per-year event.

So you can imagine how bummed I am to miss Maryland Sheep & Wool this year. But Lydia and John are both sick, and I am teetering on the brink of health myself. Maybe everyone will be better before Sunday?

Meanwhile, I'll be imagining the sights, sounds, and smells of Maryland tomorrow. And possibly doing a little online retail therapy. C'mon, I already made my shopping list!
