Kate's Perspective

This is my first post in new blogger. I've heard mixed reviews from other users, so wish me luck.

To add to my really interesting list of hobbies, I made the spontaneous decision to take an evening accounting class this fall. Dear God, I am so dull. Anyway, I think it will be fun, other than giving up my Monday nights for three or four months, and it's just down the street so it can't be that draining.

The baby gift was received with pleasure, but I forgot to photograph it before wrapping it! Will try to post a photo of the almost finished product. John admired it so much, he requested one a little larger for himself, so I am already elbow deep in another pile of flannel. It's pretty fun despite the heat and humidity.

Also, we got our house painted! Pictures to come soon. We are waiting for the new front door to be installed and then painted, so we haven't yet got the full effect. The 95% effect is very satisfying.

Over the holiday, my mom and I drove out to Amish country and visited a fantastic plant farm where I stocked up on plants for my new herb garden. [The curry plant is my favorite. It smells exactly like it tastes and I would love to wear it as perfume.] We spent all day Sunday mixing peat moss into the soil and planting beautiful things. Next weekend I'll have to give the side bed the same treatment, but I look forward to it. The new plants are so healthy and green! I hope I can keep them that way....

We also had a picnic on the 4th and I contributed fresh lemonade and strawberry shortcake. Yum! Our cookout guests will likely get to sample both recipes this weekend as I was pleased with the results. We played badminton with my cousin and made our weekly visit to the quarry for a swim. That long, cool spring really left me longing for some heat and humidity-- I am still resisting the AC, although John is ready to shed his skin.

That about brings us up to date. Gotta get those photos posted!
